Flying to Madeira

Madeira International Airport in Santa Cruz is the main gateway to the region and is used regularly by the main European airlines. 

It takes around 1hr 30 min to fly from Madeira to any of the Portuguese airports and a little over three hours aproximately, to get to some of the main airports in the centre of Europe.

From Santa Cruz Airport to Francisco Franco High School

By Car:

Via VR1 (19.1 km)

Head northeast (28 m)

Slight left (450 m)

Take the ramp to Funchal (200 m)

Merge onto VR1 (15.6 km)

Take exit 12 toward Funchal/C. da Barca (260 m)

Turn left onto R. da Ribeira de João Gomes (2.3 km)

Turn right onto R. João de Deus (290 m)

 

There is one taxi stand at the Arrivals area of Madeira Airport, level 0.

Taxis taking you from Madeira Airport to any destination on the island always operate with a meter. As a reference, the fare on the taxi meter at the start of the journey should read 4.00 € during the week.

All taxi services charge an additional 20% on weekdays between 21.00 and 6.00 on the following day, and throughout the day on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. The transportation of luggage or animals is subject to an additional charge of 1.50 €.

Walk about 2 min toward southwest and turn left. Bus stop will be on the left (130 m)

Catch bus 56 towards Funchal via Porto Cruz in Cemitério-Zona 25

Leave the bus at the stop Rua do Matadouro

Walk about 4 min (350 m)
